Second Taping Experience

It’s so fun, what you can create with something as simple as a few pieces of scotch tape! It didn’t come out quite as neatly as I would like but it will do for a few days.  The blue polish is Miss Sporty from Etos, and I’m not a fan at all. The brush is an odd wide but crooked shape and the paint globs easily.  It’s cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for.

The Ubergirlie

Anyone who knew me before I started messing around with nails would whoop out with laughter if they saw this.  I was always the least ‘girlie’ person in my group of friends and wearing a skirt was out of the question, which meant that pink nailpolish and SPARKLES was not even within the realm of possibility.
Yet, here it is!  My ubergirlie manicure!  I swear, the more girlie I go with this stuff the more I enjoy it.

Red Laser Look

After seeing this on Nailside I tried the taping technique to get this laser look on my nails. I loved it! Such an easy way to get something so different! The only thing I would have changed was using flat black rather than a black with some sparkle to it. It would have made the red stand out more, I think.

First Attempt at Stamping

After removing my acrylics and doing a rather messy manicure to cover it up, I went and got my hands on a proper file and buffer.  I was able to get a lot of the ridges off my nail beds which were totally shredded.  I then painted two coats of Maybelline New York Express Finish Nr. 870 (Blue Sapphire).
While I was out shopping for the file I saw the Essence Stampy Set and couldn’t resist picking it up.  This was the very first stamp I had ever done, and I was in love.  I have since bought most of the plates but am having trouble getting the stamp to pull up the paint from the full nail stamps.  Not sure why… I will keep trying.

St Patty’s Day Manicure

Rather than wearing something green on St. Patrick’s day I decided to give myself an extra special manicure!
I’ve wanted to try the water marble technique and after buying some green and black polish yesterday I figured this was a good time to try it out.
It was a very lengthy process and it took quite a few tries to get it right.  I also went through a lot of nailpolish, I’m glad the polish I had was cheap stuff I got on sale, as I’ll never be doing this with my more expensive stuff.

Removing My Acrylics & First Manicure

It was a sad day when I had to remove my acrylic nails.  I wasn’t sure what was waiting for me underneath as the first set I had put on was at an “Asian Nail Farm” where they drilled the bejesus out of my nails.
I spent hours soaking them in acetone, I went through an entire bottle!  My nail technician told me it was because I had the tinfoil the wrong way around, that I should have had the shiny side on the inside.  Bugger.

My Former Acrylics

For three months I had acrylic nails and I LOVED THEM! Unfortunately I wasn't able to keep them due to the costs.  Here are some photos of the designs I had during that time.
I really loved having the acrylics but unfortunately it turned out that the upkeep was too expensive.  It gave me a taste of life with beautifully decorated nails is like, so after removing the acrylics I couldn't go back to my boring unhealthy and chipping nails.
