My Metro Nails

metro3
The other day I saw this post over on Colores de Carol about a newspaper manicure. I kept that tab open for days because I wanted to do it and knew if I closed the window I’d forget!

I had just gotten the same polish she used (Catrice Snow Motion) not that long ago so I knew I had everything that was needed for this manicure.  Uhh, except a newspaper, which I later swiped from the waiting room at my doctor’s office! You can always count on finding a Metro somewhere you go during the day!
Here are the materials I used for this mani:
Seche Vite Base Coat
Catrice Snow Motion
Alcohol
Metro Newspaper
Seche Vite Top Coat

This was so easy to do… ANYONE can do this!  Here are the easy steps to creating your own newspaper manicure:
  1. Tear 10 pieces of newspaper a little bigger than the size of your fingernails.
  2. Apply your base coat if you choose. I always do to try to prevent staining.
  3. Apply 1-2 coats of white or light grey polish.
  4. Wait for the polish to dry fully.
  5. Dip your finger in rubbing alcohol for approximately 5 seconds
  6. Immediately after removing your finger from the alcohol, press one of the pieces of newspaper onto it and press to transfer the ink to the nail.
  7. Peel the paper from the nail.
  8. Apply a top coat.
VOILA!  Newpaper manicure!  Here is a video tutorial so you can see it in action:

I really want to do this again sometime, but using the comics or some other colored portion of the newspaper just to see how it comes out.  I wish we got the ‘funnies’ here in the Netherlands like we did back in Canada!  They’d be great for playing around with this type of manicure, I think!

@Lacquer Ware - Thanks! :)

@mmichele - Aww thanks! I'm not sure I'd be very good at doing OTHER people's nails though!
